Emergency Medical Service (EMS)

The WHO asserts that in low-resource settings, an emergency medical service system(EMS system) should form an integral part of a larger prehospital care system. In its most classic form, EMS represents a system of ground, air, or water ambulances, using trained prehospital providers to deliver safe and timely care while transporting the patient to definitive care in a coordinated manner. EMS constitute both prehospital and hospital services. 

Prehospital care

Pre-hospital care means those emergency medical services rendered to emergency patient for analytic, resuscitative, stabilizing or preventative purposes, precedent to and during transportation of such patient to health care facilities. Prehospital care implies that, a fixed health care facility is the ultimate destination of the patient.

Paramedic

A person trained to give emergency medical care to people who are seriously ill with the aim of stabilizing them before they are taken to hospital, but who is not a medical doctor or a nurse. Not all ambulance personnel are paramedics, although the term is sometimes used informally to refer to any ambulance personnel.

The target group for IN:CODE courseware are domain experts and teachers as well as library and information technology personnel and support centers.

We focus on authoring new genres of interactive digital learning materials including online video lectures.

Be prepared to spend at least 10 hours working through the material and a similar amount of time to do the assignments for a minimum of 20 hours. In many cases you might benefit from doubling that number. With 5-6 webinars of 2 hours each in addition, the total (minimum) hours is close to 30 which is equal to the standard for one credit in the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)

When relevant we use Open edX as our Content Management System.

Alternatively this platform is used as a kind of boundary object when project partners use different Learning Management and Content Management systems.

The NorEt Aptitude Project 2021
